Presentation

The LEGOMEDIC consortium was born from a mutual ambition of the industrial and academic partners to set up Wallonia’s first major collaboration in the area of microreactors and flow chemistry.

The LEGOMEDIC project was funded in 2012 by the regional government of Wallonia under the “Plan Marshall 2.vert” scheme. It was supported by the mechanical engineering (MECATECH) and health (BIOWIN) clusters of Wallonia.

LEGOMEDIC aims

The LEGOMEDIC consortium aims to implement a holistic approach to process development of small organic or biological molecules using microreactors and continuous processes.

Its approach encompasses the development of new synthetic strategies, the custom design and manufacture of microreactors, the lab and pilot-scale validation of the chemistry and the equipment and the construction of a prototype pilot manufacturing unit.

In order to achieve these objectives, both industrial and academic partners were chosen for their well-established and complementary expertise in all relevant areas of the development process.
